Technical authoring

S1000D authoring involves the creation of technical content directly in compliance with the S1000D specification.
Techpoint Services applies structured authoring principles, XML-based authoring tools, and standard business rules to produce accurate, reusable, and modular documentation.

Our authoring process includes:

Requirements analysis

We work with stakeholders to define documentation requirements, identify applicable S1000D issues, and determine project-specific rules and data module needs.

BREX and SNS development

We develop a Business Rules EXchange (BREX) and Standard Numbering System (SNS) structure to govern authoring standards, numbering conventions, and content organization.

Data Module authoring

Authors create Data Modules (DMs) following S1000D standards, including descriptive, procedural, and illustrated content.
Each DM is validated for structure, consistency, and schema compliance.

Quality assurance and validation

All authored content is checked against the BREX file, schema, and editorial guidelines to ensure full compliance with S1000D and project-specific requirements.

Publishing and delivery

Final deliverables are prepared in the required format (e.g., IETP, PDF) and integrated into the customer’s Content Management System (CMS) or IETP viewer.
